Poetry Reading

Date: 18 September 2019

Time: 14:00 p.m. to 15:00 p.m.

Join us for a special afternoon of poetry reading with Cherry Doyle and Bert Flitcroft.

Cherry Doyle's 'September' is drawn from her love of Cannock Chase and it's wildlife and touches on personal loss; Bert Flitcroft will be reading a selection from his Thought-Apples which is philosophical, occasionally piquant but always accessible. Expect an event that will delight people who love words, language and the environment around them.

Bert Flitcroft was born in 1946 and grew up in Lancashire. Nowadays he lives near Lichfield, a retired English teacher. He has been very active on the poetry scene over the last few years and was appointed poet laureate of Staffordshire 2015-17. His pamphlet collection Thought-Apples was published by Offa's Press in 2015. For further information got to his website: www.bert-flitcroft-poetry.com

Cherry Doyle was born in Shrewsbury and now lives in Staffordshire, near Cannock Chase AONB, whose landscapes and wildlife provide inspiration for much of her poetry. She works in business change and is one of the co-ordinators of Blakenhall Writers in Wolverhampton. In 2018, Cherry completed a BA in Creative Writing with the Open University. Her pamphlet September has just been published by Offa's Press. Keep in touch at www.cherrydoyle.com.
