Learning Outdoors

Learning in Wigan's Parks

There is a wealth of evidence that supports the benefits of outdoor learning in natural environments, and Wigan has plenty of unique park and green space locations to explore including Haigh Country Park, Three Sisters Recreation Area, Pennington Flash Country Park and Mesnes Park.

Our qualified Activity Leaders will work alongside you to ensure that our learning offer is tailored specifically to your group, and help you develop programmes of study to stimulate and maximise the potential of young learners.

Many of our programmes can be adapted to be run at school as well as at our sites and we can theme them to reflect celebrated national environment weeks.

Our aims are that groups will:

  • Meet their learning objectives (whether that’s curriculum,WoodlandSchoolor badge scheme based)
  • Learn about the importance and develop respect for our parks and green spaces
  • Enjoy their visit with us and feel inspired to come back!
